fun little place sent to us from my husband...

Dog Bark Park Inn

Cottonwood, Idaho

This beagle-shaped inn was built in 1997 by chainsaw artists Dennis Sullivan and Frances Conklin, who sold enough chainsaw wood carvings on QVC one year to invest in their pet(!) project. The main building, named Sweet Willy, is accompanied by a 12-foot-high wood carving of another beagle named Toby.

We *heart* Norm's in Fremont!

One of my most favorite places to eat and grab a beer at with Simon in tow is Norm's Eatery & Ale House in Fremont. If you're looking for some good grub, a laid-back vibe and all-around fun with your pooch at your side, check out Norm's. Here are the "Dog Rules", straight from their facebook page, just in case you were wondering...

Here are the rules that we follow so the Health Department turns a blind eye with our favorite side kicks in the restaurant:
1. Your dog must be friendly with people and other dogs.
2. Your dog must be on a leash! No leash, your dog can't come in.
3. You cannot let your dog bark while in the restaurant. This is actually a rule that the Health Department told us we have to enforce.
4. Your dog cannot eat off of the table or any plates on the table.
5. You must clean up after your dog if it relieves itself on our floor! You need to be a responsible pet owner and take your dog out if you plan on staying for awhile.

For the most part, we can get away with our furry friends (dogs only) coming into Norm's without the Health Department giving us a hard time. We keep our restaurant and kitchen clean and sanitized. Don't ruin it for everyone. If you are not a fan of dogs, then we suggest you go elsewhere in Fremont.

Seattle FURRY 5K!

2009 10th Annual Furry 5k Fun Run and Walk

SUNDAY, JUNE 7th in SEWARD PARK. RACE STARTS at 10 A.M

The Furry 5k raises money for the Help the Animals Fund, which provides veterinary care and supplies for sick, injured or abused orphaned shelter animals. The Seattle Animal Shelter takes in nearly 8,000 animals annually. Of those, many receive the lifesaving care they need thanks to the generous donations of individuals and companies. The HTAF is an integral part of saving lives – with annual veterinary expenses of approximately $100,000, every dollar raised counts!

Seattle Animal Shelter Needs Your Help!

The Seattle Animal Shelter experienced a fire yesterday afternoon. The
fire began near the dryer in the laundry room and did not spread far
outside of the laundry room. All the animals and people at the
shelter are ok.

All critters have been relocated to ACCESS Emergency Vet Hospital for
oxygen and monitoring. All other animals are being monitored at the
shelter.

THE SHELTER WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC AND VOLUNTEERS Monday,
5/4/09. The staff will focus on cleanup of the shelter. We should be
back to normal operations on Tuesday, 5/5/09.

Please help us by asking friends and family for donations of blankets
and towels. As you can imagine, most of our linens were damaged in
the fire. Also, we do not have a working washer or dryer, so we will
need help with laundry starting Tuesday morning.

Thank you all for your help and understanding.

The Seattle Animal Shelter is located in the Interbay neighborhood of
Seattle between Magnolia and Ballard on 15th West - one mile south of
the Ballard Bridge. 2061 15th Ave West, Seattle, WA 98119.
